Is There a Difference Between BOTOX, Xeomin, & Dysport?

If you’re not happy with how your skin is aging, the good news is that you have many options when it comes to doing something about it – options that don’t involve invasive surgery and the cost and downtime that comes with it. BOTOX® Cosmetic, Dysport®, and Xeomin® are three such options.

Which One Is Right for You?

Dermal fillers such as BOTOX Cosmetic, Dysport, and Xeomin Miami work by reducing the appearance of wrinkles and even keeping new wrinkles from forming, but they aren’t exactly alike. Here are some things you should know about how these three compare:

• All three fillers work the same way. They all work by reducing the amount of muscle movement in the injected site, which reduces wrinkles. And, although these three have their differences, they are all equally safe and effective.

• BOTOX Cosmetic, Dysport, and Xeomin all use botulinum type A as the active ingredient. However, BOTOX Cosmetic and Dysport have other ingredients besides just botulinum type A, while Xeomin has botulinum type A as its only ingredient. The possible benefits of this include that it gets deeper into the skin, works faster, and there is less risk of an allergic reaction. It is a good choice for people with sensitive skin.

• Dysport works faster than both BOTOX Cosmetic and Xeomin. Patients can start seeing results within 2 to 3 days. It is a good choice to use for areas that might need multiple injections of another type of filler, because it spreads more than other fillers.

• They are all long lasting. Dysport results will typically last up to 4 months, results from BOTOX Cosmetic typically last between 3 and 6 months, and results from Xeomin typically last 3 to 4 months.
